Weekend Wrap-Up: Easy Homemade Pizza Making & More

Happy Monday! School was canceled for today and the little ladies and I are prepared to stay cozied up for another cold and snowy day in Chicago. We are under a severe weather warning, preparing for up to TEN inches of snow and some record lows later in the week, as in -25, so needless to say, we won’t be taking any big adventures this week!

This weekend we were still pretty much home bound, Isla picked up another fever virus, our poor little lady just can’t catch a break! Saturday morning we were up bright and early for ballet, I was able to capture some super sweet photos of Avery and Emmy, don’t they look like little college girls!?

After ballet we made a trip to Trader Joe’s to pick up all the ingredients we needed to make homemade pizzas! Trader Joe’s has really delicious pre-made dough, you can find it near the deli meat, I mentioned this in my Meal Planning post last week, it’s seriously the BEST, make sure you grab some during your next Trader Joe’s run! You can take a peek at what’s inside Avery and Emmy’s carts to see some of our other Trader Joe’s favorites: plantain chips, mini brie bites, frozen blueberry waffles, guiltless guac, chicken salad and so much more! Do you have any Trader Joe’s favorites!? Make sure to share your suggestions with me in my comments, I always love finding new goodies there!

While our two littlest ladies took a nap, I was able to sneak away for a few hours, I have been spending A LOT of time inside taking care of our sick kiddos and it felt SO nice to get out on my own. I wandered around Old Navy and scored some amazing deals, $.48 clogs for Isla, $1 and $3 shirts/dresses and $2 active leggings for Avery and Emmy. I left with a big ole’ bag of goodies for $60! I’ll share some of my sale finds below, they are also offering 25-40% off clearance online but the tag prices are a bit cheaper in store, so enjoy scooping up good deals from the comfort of your couch, or stop into Old Navy and get yourself some even better deals this week!

Saturday night, it was pizza making time! The little ladies loved playing with flour and shaping their dough into a circle. I was so impressed with how well they listened and were able to take turns throughout the whole process. Emmy topped her pizza with extra cheese and Avery added some pepperoni to hers, they were so proud of their creations, it was such a fun night!

I have to share the recipe from the blog The Secret Ingredient Is, that I loosely followed for Scott and I’s pizza, it was DELICIOUS! Like, better then restaurants pizza and super easy to make. We didn’t use any pizza sauce, just a little EVOO and garlic, topped off with mozzarella cheese, burrata, pancetta, arugula, a little squeeze of lemon juice and red pepper flakes, are you drooling yet!? I could have eaten the entire pizza by myself, but I did show some self restraint and we enjoyed the leftovers on Sunday!

Sunday was a pretty quiet day for us, Avery had a birthday party and we enjoyed a little Sunday night dinner with my parents. My Mom traveled back to where I grew up (in central Illinois) and brought up some of our favorite sandwiches from Avanti’s! Scotty and I were able to get the girls down for bed pretty quickly, enjoyed a little Sunday night night cap and watched an episode of Black Mirror on Netflix, have you watched!? It’s a pretty crazy series, but really makes you think about where technology may be leading us.

It was so nice to slowly wind down from the weekend and to prepare for another week ahead, stay warm friends, I’ll see you back here tomorrow for my second Meal Planning series post, I hope you’ll come grab my free shopping list printable and let me do your meal planning for you!
